How I Got Rid of Sunday Night Dread

Hint: it's not how you think.

It’s Sunday evening.

You’ve just finished watching a football match, or your favourite TV show, and then it hits you.

The Sunday night dread.

“Here we go again.”

We’ve all been there, and it’s horrible.

But, I can’t remember the last time I had this feeling, and I want to share with you how I was able to get rid of it.

What is Sunday Night Dread?

Sunday night dread is that feeling you get around Sunday evening when you realise the weekend is over, and it’s back to work in the morning.

It’s a feeling of:

  • Nerves.

  • Anxiety.

  • Frustration.

And it’s a horrible feeling.

Many people get it, and I’ve been there before.

It’s “ugh, here we go again”, and it’s one of the reasons why I started this brand.

Ask yourself. Do you suffer from Sunday night dread?

If not, you’re in a good place.

But for the majority, it’s a feeling that you don’t get rid of unless you face it head on.

It won’t disappear by itself, but if you keep reading, you can find out how I was able to remove Sunday night dread from my life.

Why You Have Sunday Night Dread

For a lot of people, the gap in enjoyment between weekends and weekdays is too big.

Many people live for weekends.

But it’s not because weekends are so good.

It’s because weekdays are so bad.

It’s a sad reality, but it’s true. Many people are:

  • Working a job they don’t like.

  • Not in control of their time.

  • Just trying to make it through the week.

I’ve been there, but I knew that I had to take action in order to get rid of this feeling.

So, why do you have Sunday night dread?

It’s simple.

Your schedule is full of things that you have to do, but don’t want to do.

You could put this down to one thing: Your job.

You don’t want to do it, but you have to. To pay the bills, of course.

If you had the choice, instead of:

  • Waking up early on Monday.

  • Dragging yourself to work.

  • Sitting behind a desk for 8 hours.

  • Getting moaned at by your boss.

  • Sitting in traffic.

  • Going home and waiting to do it all again.

You want to:

  • Turn off your alarm.

  • Stay in bed all day.

  • Watch TV.

  • Eat ice cream.

But, you can’t. Because that’s life, and you’ve got obligations.

Obligations, that you don’t want to fulfil.

Sunday night dread is a form of stress, and stress comes from not being in control of your actions and movements.

You’re reliant on other things for your survival.

So, how did I get rid of Sunday night dread?

By working on this.

How to Get Rid of Sunday Night Dread

When I think about it, I begin to realise that this entire brand is designed for helping people remove Sunday night dread.

My Sunday night dread began to ease when I started to focus on improving my financial situation.

This might sound a bit strange, but let me explain.

When I first started working, I went to work because I had to.

That, for the vast majority of people, is why you work, right?

Because you have to.

I didn’t dislike my job, but knowing that I had to go regardless of how I felt, made it less enjoyable.

But, during the COVID lockdowns, I started paying attention to my finances, and I started:

  • Saving more

  • Investing my money

  • Learning about personal finance

All of a sudden, by the time the lockdowns were over and the world began to open up again, my financial situation was much better.

  • I had thousands invested.

  • I had an emergency fund worth almost 6 months of my expenses.

  • I knew about how I was going to quit my job and build a life I want.

Despite my job not changing, I began to enjoy it more for one simple reason:

Due to improving my financial situation, I could now go to work knowing that I didn’t need to.

It’s not like I was going to take random days off, but that feeling of going to work knowing you could walk in and quit at any moment, was priceless.

Why could I quit? Because building wealth buys you time.

It give you options, and that’s how you get rid of Sunday night dread.

You could be living the exact same life, but…

When you’re financially drowned, you’re stressed.

When you’re financially abundant, you’re free.

You don’t need an abundance of knowledge, nor do you need to put a lot of work in.

A few changes to your life, and Sunday night dread is gone forever:

  • Increase your disposable income.

  • Cut back on unnecessary spending.

  • Get rid of high interest debt.

  • Build an emergency fund.

  • Start investing.

Start small, and build on this every month.

Sunday night dread will soon begin to fade.
