7 Simple Tips That Skyrocketed My Productivity

Implement these simple tactics to help your productive output explode.

Everyone wants more from their time, and there’s no such thing as being “too productive”.

You can always improve your productivity levels, and it’s something that I’ve worked on for years.

A lot of things haven’t worked, but there are certain things that have helped me significantly.

So, here are 7 simple tips you can use to skyrocket your productivity and get the most from your time.

1. Create a Daily To-Do List

Writing down your tasks for the day or week is great for increasing your productivity levels.

It not only helps you stay organised. But, it also gives you a sense of accomplishment as you cross off tasks you’ve completed.

When creating your to-do list, it’s best to start with the most urgent tasks first.

I used to always get brain fog. I had so many things to do, but couldn’t focus on anything.

A simple to-do list can stop this, helping you focus on one task at a time until it’s done.

2. Break Down Big Tasks

Big tasks can feel overwhelming, leading to procrastination and a lack of productivity.

One strategy is to break down big tasks into smaller, more bitesize steps.

For example, if you need to write a report, you can break it down into:

  • Research

  • Outlining

  • Writing

  • Editing

By breaking it down, you can make progress on the project each day.

And before you know it, you’ve made way more progress than you would’ve done it you tried to tackle it all at once.

3. Eliminate Close Distractions

Distractions are a major source of lost productivity.

Identify your personal distractions and develop strategies to avoid them.

If you’re distracted by social media, turn off notifications or use an app blocker.

If you work in a noisy environment, use headphones or find a quieter workspace.

Reducing distractions allows you to focus on the task at hand. This will lead to greater efficiency and productivity.

Since I started working from home, I’ve left my phone in another room to prevent using it.

It’s a great little tip.

Something as simple as leaving your phone in another room can have benefits.

4. Use the Pomodoro Technique

The Pomodoro Technique involves working for 25 minutes, then taking a 5-minute break.

After four 25-minute work periods, take a longer break.

This technique can help you stay focused and motivated, and increases productivity.

You know when you’re meant to be working. You know when you’re meant to be resting.

By breaking your work into manageable chunks, you can avoid burnout and stay on task.

5. Stay Organised

A cluttered workspace can cause stress and reduce productivity.

Keeping your workspace clean and organised can improve focus and efficiency.

Make sure everything has a place and put things back where they belong when you’re done using them.

Consider using folders or binders to keep important documents organised and accessible.

This method can help you save heaps of time.

6. Use Productivity Tools

Technology offers many tools to help you manage your time and tasks.

Use productivity tools like Trello, or Notion to stay on track and manage your workflow.

These tools can help you:

  • Organise your tasks

  • Set reminders

  • Collaborate with others.

They can also help you prioritise tasks and track progress. This will give you a clear overview of your productivity.

7. Become Comfortable Saying No

Saying no can be difficult, but it’s important for maintaining productivity.

Set boundaries and prioritise your time to avoid over-committing yourself.

When someone asks for your time, consider whether it aligns with your priorities.

If it doesn’t, it’s okay to politely decline or negotiate a compromise that works for everyone.

Learning to say no allows you to focus on what’s important and avoid burnout.
